Senior Test Analyst – Data Migration

It's very exciting times at AQA with the development of a whole new technical platform to provide an industry-leading, cloud-based, exam processing system. To play a key role on this journey we're looking for an engaging and experienced Senior Test Analyst to work on our Data Migration workstream.

The role is based within our Software Solution department and is fundamental to the successful development of this new platform.

Key responsibilities:

•To provide both hands-on and leadership in the planning and execution of all test phases for the Data Migration work stream including system test and UAT.
•To design, plan and execute tests in-line with AQA testing practices, and lead and co-ordinate the same when undertaken by business users as part of UAT. This to be delivered under the direction of the Head of Test and aligned with AQA development methodologies.
To run defect triages and produce daily reports during Test Execution
•To provide testing outcome data and assist Project Stakeholders in making a qualitative assessment of the components under test and the extent to which they have met their requirements, design and specification.
•To represent the Test Team in the day-to-day development activities, identifying areas of risk and applying appropriate testing techniques to mitigate them.
•To help complete AQA’s ongoing transition to a single, consistent set of cloud-based technologies (technology re-platform) and move to an agile delivery model in line with current software development best practices (Scrum/Kanban; continuous delivery) – and to continually improve and enhance that technology for new and changing business needs, once that transition is complete.

Person specification:
•Proven ability to influence the test approach for a large project.
•Experience of large Data Migration projects is desired.
•Experience of SQL queries and data analysis
•Ability to undertake both functional and non-functional testing
•Experience of different Test Activities (eg Unit, System, Integration, User Acceptance) including both functional and non-functional testing
•Demonstrable experience and knowledge of recognised testing techniques (eg black box, white box, risk-based, scenario-based)
•Excellent analytical skills
•Collaborative and flexible in approach and a thought-leader especially in role-specific areas of expertise
•Demonstrable experience of successfully undertaking tasks in line with Key Responsibilities
•Proven oral and written communication skills and ability to explain issues to technical and non-technical staff
•Expert in introducing software development practices.
