AQA are in the process of delivering a major new operational system that will be the foundation of our ability to process millions of exam papers every year. This vital system will be used by approximately 1500 employees and 35k external users.

Due to a maternity cover opportunity we are recruiting a Project Manager to join our Change/Operations Team. This role will support a critical period in our programme Transition Plan as we move from the building of the code to the testing, training, and adoption of the system by end-users.

This role is to work with the Change team, Operations teams, and leadership teams to ensure that all relevant activities in the Transition Plan are correctly resourced, and delivered to time and quality; and to track and report project delivery and progress, identifying and managing dependencies, risks and issues.

What you’ll do

In this role you’ll:

•analyse complex situations and issues, managing multiple inter-dependent change-related activities driven by different programmes and stakeholder requirements
•work in a matrix-managed environment with competing change needs and drivers
•influence a wide range of stakeholders (up to Exec level) to manage conflicting requirements, demands and priorities
•matrix-manage teams undergoing substantial change, and build collaborative and high-performing teams through this change
•develop a critical path of key activities, providing planning support and identifying and managing dependencies across the plans
•communicate on a wide level by engaging internal colleagues, external partners and business stakeholders at all levels, ensuring clarity of requirements and positioning and securing buy-in to proposed solutions
•need to be self-sufficient and dynamic, capable of hitting the ground running.

What we’re looking for

•Experience of working on IT enabled transformation programmes on a large scale
•Extensive project management experience using the Waterfall methodology, coordinating and managing time and priorities within a structured environment.
•Experience of building, adapting, and managing complex resource plans.
•Project management qualification in Prince 2 desirable if applied in a workplace environment.
